As of 1 January 2021, all companion animals from Great Britain and its dependencies (excluding Northern Ireland) must be entered through an airport or port authorized as a Point of Entry for Travelers and accompanied by a sanitary certificate. For more information see the corresponding section (Dogs, cats and ferrets/ Birds / Other Species).
No change is foreseen in the health requirements for the introduction of companion animals from Spain to the United Kingdom, so they will be able to continue traveling with the European companion animal passport issued in Spain or in any other EU-27 country (those issued in Great Britain will not be valid, but those from Northern Ireland will). It will be necessary for them to have an electronic identification system, a valid rabies vaccine and a treatment against parasites between days 1-5 prior to their trip.
