The LCV is a centre attached to the General Directorate of Animal and Plant Health through the Animal and Plant Health Laboratory Division. Dr. Manuel D. Durán is the Head of the Division. LCV is divided into two areas: Animal Health and Molecular Genetics. Dra. Montserrat Agüero is the Technical Director of the Animal Health Area and the Head of the EURL.
The AHS&BT Team is made up of people who are exclusively involved in Orbivirus tasks as well as people performing in addition national reference tasks of many other animal diseases, and other support tasks. They have a long experience in the diagnosis of major diseases, such as African and Classical swine fever, West Nile, Avian influenza, etc. even in emergency situation.
The activities of the AHS&BT Team are in accordance with the Integrated Management System in force in the LCV which includes quality standards according EN ISO/IEC 17025:2017, environmental standards in agreement to ISO 14001:2015 and regulations regarding Health and Safety, Biosafety and Biosecurity, and Animal Welfare.
